Mary Kate Martin is the Group Sales and Audience Development Manager for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), where she works with group leaders of all shapes and sizes to help audiences experience the BSO and connect with the community through tourism partnerships and outreach.

She specializes in building quick, genuine connections with people of all ages and backgrounds, backed by fast, thoughtful follow-up. Since joining the BSO, she's grown groups' revenue by 34% in her second season, streamlined the organization's group offerings, expanded its presence at community events, and even helped launch its swag line.

What drives her is simple: getting people excited about music and about Baltimore. A self-described lover of photography and reading, Mary Kate hopes her work helps put Baltimore high on every traveler's list of must-visit cities. She's active with ABA and SYTA and is continually building relationships with more local organizations.

Mary Kate joined Women in Buses after a chance conversation with Nora Campbell of the National Aquarium while waiting in line for a flight to the SYTA '25 conference in Savannah — Nora's enthusiasm (and the promise of a book club) sealed the deal.

It is with profound sadness that Trans-Bridge Lines announced the passing of Camille JeBran, their beloved matriarch of the JeBran family and cherished founding member of the company. Camille died peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, at age 108.

At Trans-Bridge Lines, Camille didn't just keep the wheels turning; she steered an entire industry forward. She guided Trans-Bridge Lines through decades of history with grace and determination, forever changing the landscape for women in transportation. In recognition of her leadership and lasting impact, Camille was named the 2018 recipient of the Women in Buses Award, an honor that reflected the example she set for generations of women in the motorcoach industry.

Her warmth, kindness, and love for her family and friends left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to cross paths with her. We will remember her with great affection and gratitude for the love, memories, and legacy she leaves behind. She will be greatly missed.

Our hearts are with the JeBran family and all of Camille’s loved ones during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the many wonderful moments they shared with such a remarkable woman.

Carlie Widdifield (currently serving on WIB leadership committee) graduated with her Certified Student Travel Professional (CSTP) delegation during the SYTA 2026 Annual Conference in Pittsburgh. The CSTP is designed for professionals within the student and youth travel industry to build expertise, strengthen credibility, and advance their careers. She earned this delegation by joining committees and councils, attending industry events, by volunteering, and attending many webinars, trainings, and professional development courses. While the industry can evolve quickly, she feels confident in her skills, expertise, connections, and most importantly her leadership skills.

Her journey has taught her that perseverance isn't about never falling; it's about finding the strength to get back up and keep moving forward.

The Women follows Frances "Frankie" McGrath, a young nursing student from a conservative California family who enlists as an Army nurse during the Vietnam War after her brother is deployed. The novel traces her harrowing service in field hospitals amid the chaos and trauma of combat, then follows her return home to a country that largely dismisses or disbelieves that women served in Vietnam at all. Frankie struggles with PTSD, addiction, and invisibility as a veteran, finding her path back to purpose through friendships with fellow nurses who understand what she endured. The book is as much about female wartime service and its lasting scars as it is about resilience, sisterhood, and the fight to be seen and honored for sacrifices history often erased.
